Directions to 16 Putnam Rd., Somerville

The house is essentially on the far side of 28 from the Somerville Home Depot. If/when you get lost, these are the relevant phone numbers:

    by T (10-12 minute walk from Wellington)

    Take the Orange Line to Wellington. Leave the T-station via the Disney-like tram to the parking garage. Leave through the far corner of the garage from the tram and walk out to 28. Cross over to the far side of 28, turn left, and head over the Mystic River. Just before the traffic light on the far side of the river, there's a staircase that goes up to the right. Walk up that, turn left at the top, and take your first right (about a half a block later) onto Putnam Road. Make sure you are on Putnam Road and not Puritan. This could save you from some serious trouble. 16 Putnam Road is on your left.

    by car

    1) get to 28 North coming out of Cambridge (if you go to the Galleria, then turn North and bear right to keep Lechemere on your left, you'll end up on 28).

    You will get to a point where 93 is elevated in front of you- get in the far right lane and follow the signs towards 93 North- this will pull you right to turn left onto Mystic. Once you're on Mystic, heading north, you'll almost immediately come to a light (Temple St) where you can turn right under 93- do that. This will pop you out in the Ten Hills neighborhood. Go straight up Temple St to the top of the hill- this is Putnam Rd. Make sure you are on Putnam Road and not Puritan. This could save you from some serious trouble. Turn right- we're 5 or 6 houses down on the right. Park wherever- this is _not_ permit only parking.

    or 2) go to Home Depot in Somerville via rt. 38 (drive right by the front of Home Depot) NOT by rt. 28. Don't turn into the parking lot- keep going, staying to the right (towards Mystic Ave)- this will snake you under 93 through the intersection with 28. On the far side, there's a yield to join the traffic heading north on Mystic. Do this, but then take your next right (after less than 100 feet) on Temple, go to the top of the hill, turn right on Putnam, look for our house.

    or if things don't go right: 3) if you get stuck on 28 over the river, don't despair- follow the rotary around to the left and to 28 south. Just on the far side of the bridge, take a right on Shore Drive. A few streets up, take a left on Putnam Rd. Make sure you are on Putnam Road and not Puritan. This could save you from some serious trouble. Follow this up and over the top of the hill, look for our house on the right.
